The author in this article is talking of the growing confience of Newt Gingrich as he seemed to be surging in votes just before the SC primary. He mentions quotes of his saying that if he won SC he would win nomination. Comments on how he says he can be a great leader. The author also includes remarks about how other smaller candidates such as Senator Santorum or Gov Rick Perrywere having a battle of their own that would divide up the votes. Faults in Mitt Romney were pointed out about his taxes and how hes is attacking Gingrich in acts of desperation to show his slipping lead in SC. These comments and events pointed out could have gained some posible voters for the Gingrich crowd because it showed the disarray of the author candidates and the confident, posotive facotrs in Newt.
