This video from CNN breaks the voting from South Carolina down into who as voting for who in terms of economic status and salary. According to the viedo Newt Gingrich is more popular amongst voters who are in the middle range of people economically. Citizens who make between fifty and one hundred thousand dollars per year represented a high population of the voters and about 40% of them voted for Newt. Compared to those who make more than 200,000 a year (which is only 6% of South Carolina's population, almost 50% of them voted for Mitt Romney. The man showing these charts in the video makes it evident that most people that are just getting along or are struggling seemed to vote for Newt over Romney even though Romney is the candidate with the most experience in economics and claims that as his strongest suit. He also points out that most of the wealthy support Romney which could cause viewers that see this favor Gingrich in the future because of their economic status even if they may not know the candidate's views.
